Well done to everyone who participated in the GC Mothers Day Classic this weekend, especially in the rainy, windy conditions which couldnt have made it any easier.
A special mention for Sam Hoffman who did her first 21km race ever in 2 Hours 20 minutes ~ brilliant achievement Sam. Colin Dunn (Qld Driver) also participated in the 5km with his family.
HAVE THE CONVERSATION ~ It may be the one time where you do check in, that somebody will then find the confidence to finally open up. Support from family and friends can make all the difference for someone with anxiety, depression or suicidal feelings. There are lots of things you can do – from noticing changes in their behaviour through to practical support to help them recover and manage their condition.
It’s also important to look after yourself, too. Supporting someone who experiences anxiety and/or depression isn't easy – it’s often physically and emotionally draining, which can affect your health and wellbeing.
Beyond Blue has got a range of practical resources and information to help you feel confident supporting your loved one, as well as looking after yourself. Talk to the Beyond Blue Support Service (1300 22 4636) or visit Beyond Blue’s online forums where people share their experiences of anxiety and depression with each other – www.beyondblue.org.au

The Hamilton branch managed to fundraise $850 for WaiKids, the child and youth health department of the Waikato District Health Board. This money will allow them to buy a mobile Saturation Monitor which checks vital signs including heart rate and oxygen levels for children of all ages and needs.

HBY chose to “Feed the Homeless” here in Napier which is a growing concern. It highlighted to those involved how fortunate they are to enjoy the liberties they have afforded to them.
We made up bags of non-perishable food parcels that would last them more than 1 meal and distributed them to the groups of Homeless people in Napier.
Eye opening experience for some and it made us all appreciate what we have been blessed with.

On Friday I went to Reid Park Kindy in Mosgiel, what awesome day I had.
My day started with mat time with all the little awesome kindy kids, Sing & Dancing , then its morning tea - what a really busy time, from chopping up apples, peeling bananas, and making coffee for the hard working Kindy teachers.
My favourite part of the day was when I got to read stories, play my little ponies with some really cutie kids. The worst was cold sand squashing between my toes ( yuck ), also cleaned out paper cardboard what a Job, teachers pantry interesting what you find.
Thanks for such awesome day to give back, I think we should do this again as every little bit helps.

Tauranga branch chose the SPCA who protect animals in the community:
On the day, the morning consisted of cleaning and feeding the animals. The SPCA has specific areas for each step of their adoption process, to ensure the animals they are adopting out, are healthy. This included cleaning litter trays and handling animals.
I got to clean cat and kitten cages, x2 chook pens and x2 rabbit pens. The volunteers do all of the cleaning and feeding for the animals, so the staff do not have to worry. In the afternoon I got to walk one of the dogs, and just helped with general office work to help the staff.

We decided to do a car wash and put all the proceeds towards Starship Hospital. Many people have children who have ended up at Starship, and this was a great way for them to also give a little back.
We work in the courier industry so having a clean presentable vehicle is very important, so that tied into the idea of having a car wash. Also a great way to influence our own fleet to wash their vans too :P
It was non stop all day. We had one of our team on the road with a sign waving down cars and running up and down the road getting people to come and support the cause.
In total we have collected $716.50!! Some people were very generous once they realized all proceeds were for Starship hospital. We did not expect it to be such a big hit! It was an amazing turn out, and we could not have done it without our amazing team.
The Invercargill team have been busy crafting for the community. They have completed three colourful blankets that have been crocheted by the team to be donated to the Invercargill Hospice. They have also created beanies for new born babies that will be given to the Invercargill Hospital for families in the maternity ward.
I chose the SPCA, mostly for my love of animals, but also to learn more about them to see if there was any way we could do more to help.
Thankfully there weren’t too many animals in the shelter so most of the work was just cleaning and restocking food in the morning, otherwise, a lot of the day was spent keeping some quarantine strays company as well as those ready for adoption, making fuzzy friends (terribly difficult to not end up going home with them all)!
This one sweet dog lost his voice so when he barked he sounded like a seal. The resident cat (the one with the white moustache) sure shows his appreciate with a cuddle.
I learnt of the difficulties the SPCA had clearing the food donation bins from local supermarkets and from this we plan to continue helping by organising our couriers to clear these bins and deliver the donations up to the SPCA giving them one less thing to worry about so they can focus on what’s most important, helping lost or neglected animals and finding them loving new homes (sadly not mine), especially when kitten seasons comes around in November.

Palmerston North branch held a BBQ and sold the food to contractors and staff from Post Haste and NZC. Kieran also made Brownie which we sold too and it was great!!
We raised $200.00 which we will be donating to the Manawatu Cancer Society, who help support those who have been diagnosed with cancer.
Eat My Lunch is a social organisation whose goal is to ensure that no child at school goes hungry, starting with kids right here in our own backyard. Since establishment two years ago, they have given almost 500,000 lunches to kids in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington. This is done through selling lunches to the public. Every lunch that is bought means they can also give a lunch to a Kiwi kid who would otherwise go without. Everyday, Eat My Lunch feeds over 1,000 kids.
On the day, Porsha and Emily went to the Eat My Lunch site in the morning where they were making the lunches. We picked up the lunches for 5 primary schools in Auckland and delivered these to the schools in time for their lunchtime! These schools were receiving between 15 and 80 lunches every day. As a branch we also ordered our lunch on the day from Eat My Lunch. This generated over $250 towards the cause.
The Koha Shed is a place where anyone can go to when in need. It is a place free of judgment and negativity. The Koha Shed was founded by Sherron Sunnex and Meegan Manuka. Evelyn runs the West Auckland base with the help of a few volunteers. They are not government funded so the team has to work around their daily jobs. They pick up and return the donations to the shed where they pack food pods, sort through clothing, test all electronic components etc.
We got all staff and Post Haste Auckland customers involved by donating goods. On the day myself and Anthony Lee left the Penrose depot with a van full of donation from the staff alone. After we made our first drop off we started making collections from our customers. Again we had another full van when we made our second drop off to The Koha Shed. Our last pickup was done in Silverdale from Crazy Deals which filled almost half of our van. This was our last drop off to The Koha Shed for the day.
Below is a list of customers that donated to this cause:
Jack Link’s – Airport Oaks: 1 x case of beef snacks (300 bars)
NZ Merchants – Penrose: 10 boxes of new clothing and homeware
First Class Automotive – Mangere Bridge: 5 boxes and 5 bags of new/used clothing, homeware, toys and books
Fullworks – Avondale: 20 boxes of new clothes and kitchenware
Crazy Deals – Silverdale: 10 boxes and 1 large suitcase of new homeware
The importance of this cause to the community is that we were able to help those living in poverty. Everything that was donated will be helping thousands of individuals from children to parents and those in rest homes who have no families around.
To sum it up, it was a very successful day. It was amazing to be involved in something I feel so passionate about and I’m sure this will not be the last.

It is my absolute pleasure to announce that Style Fotuhetule from PHC Auckland is the latest recipient of this award. This year Style has developed an Under Ticketing APP which allows our operational staff to scan an item with a cell phone and enter in the parcel dimensions.
Meanwhile in Auckland, since 2012 this tempest has gradually gathered momentum. And now, in 2016, a severe storm warning has been issued for the welterweight category on a worldwide scale. The name of this violent hurricane threatening to wreak havoc on the unhealthy habits of all employees within the group? Neil "The Hurricane" Wilson.
